Desert Experience An experience not to be missed. Douz is a village surrounded by real sand dunes, which continues to keep its ancestral customs and habits. It is the gateway to the desert so what better place to start a camel ride into the sand dunes. If you wish you can dress up with the "djelleba and turban" to make you feel more authentic on the camel! The camel ride will last approximately 1 hour and usually takes place in the early evening in the hope of catching the beautiful sunset.

Bodouin Food & Folklore Enjoy an evening of Tunisian specialities and folklore. The show will start with an enjoyable open air horse display and on the way to see it you can see local women doing traditional tasks such as spinning, weaving, butter making etc. After being seated in a modern version of a nomadic tent, sit back and sample some local dishes including wine and water. Whilst having dinner you will be entertained by a snake charmer, traditional dancing with male and female troupe and other acrobats, all accompanied by a local band.

The Mountain Oases The town of Tozeur is clustered around the market place and has a remarkable architecture with its houses and vaulted alleyways built in bricks and covered in geometrical drawings. An excursion well worth doing as aboard a 4x4 jeep you will be taken to see the strange oases perched on top of the nearby mountain. First Chebika, an ancient Roman Ad Speculum which was a guard and observation point on the Tacape road. Here you will have the opportunity to go an see the "petit cascade" with the guide or go to visit the deserted village of Chebika. Then on to see Tameghza, which seems to be suspended on the sides of a huge canyon and is like a balcony looking out onto the Sahara. You will have the opportunity to photograph the old village from a view point across a dry river bed. The last village we will stop to see is Mides, which is just a few kilometres away from the Tunisian/Algerian border. The village is set high up in the mountains and there can be found many remains and reminders of the skill of the human races who came before. Here again time to take photos of this fascinating small village.
