Enchanting Mantova Take the opportunity to join a half day afternoon excursion to the capital of Matilde di Canossa and the Gonzaga family, the city of Mantova. It stands on an enchanted island surrounded by three lakes formed by the Mincio. Meet up with the local guide who will show you the monumental scenography of the Gonzaga period, the marvellous frescos of the Mantegna family, the churches and patrician houses that narrate the history of this beautiful city. The sightseeing tour will include the most important squares, the Basilica of Saint Andrea, the Basilica of San Lorenzo and an external guide of the Palazzo Ducale complex. At the end of the tour with the local guide you will have time on your own to perhaps go into Palazzo Ducale or just wander around Mantova. On the way back to Salsomaggiore a short stop will be made in Sabbioneta, a town of great artistic interest also called "Little Athens".

Gourmet Tour of Bologna This is the chance to see one of the best preserved medieval centers in Italy and to enjoy the authentic atmosphere of the home of the oldest University in the western world. The sightseeing tour with a local guide will show you the main sights of Bologna such as the large and magnificient Piazza Maggiore with its most significant buildings such as Palazzo Comunale, Palazzo del Podesta and Basilica of San Petronio, then Piazza Nettuno, the Archiginnasio Palace, the Old market quarters, the religious complex of Santo Stefano and last, but not least, the famous leaning towers called Garisenda and Asinelli, which for over 900 years have been part of the skyline of Bologna. At the end of the tour you will be taken to sample some traditional Bolognese specialities such as parmesan cheese and salami plus a glass of local wine. Return back to Salsomaggiore in the early afternoon.
