Italy & Greece (6480)

12 Day Tour from Rome to Athens

2017 Tour Details

Italy and Greece are countries steeped in history with a treasure trove of ancient sites and scenic beauty, and on this Italy & Greece tour, you’ll get to see the highlights of what these countries have to offer, starting in Rome and ending in Athens. In Italy, you’ll overnight in Rome, the Florence area, and the Venice area; in Greece, you’ll overnight in Olympia, Nauplia, and Athens. You’ll also overnight on a ferry crossing the Adriatic Sea from Ancona, Italy to Patras, Greece.

Enjoy sightseeing of the must-see sights, including Piazza Signoria, the center of Florence’s political life since the 14th century and home to many ornate and famous statues; Juliet’s balcony in the medieval town of Verona; the byzantine mosaics in medieval Ravenna, a UNESCO World Heritage Site; Pisa’s famous Leaning Tower; in Venice, you’ll take a boat ride to St. Mark’s Square, which is a prime people-watching spot. While in Venice, you’ll have the opportunity to watch glassblowers create works of art as they have done for centuries or to discover the center at your own pace. From Ancona, you’ll cross the Adriatic Sea by overnight ferry to reach Greece.

Step back in time on your visit to Athens’ Acropolis and the Parthenon, dating back to the 5th century BC and the most accurate indication of the influence and wealth of Athens at its greatest peak. Also visit Mycenae, dating back to 1350 to 1200 BC, where you’ll marvel at the arches, fountains, ramparts, and amazing masonry still standing. Imagine what life was like during the Roman Empire when you visit Rome’s iconic Colosseum, the amphitheater used for deadly gladiatorial contests, and the Roman Forum, the political, social, and commercial center during the Roman Empire.

All of these elements come together perfectly to create a value-minded Italy and Greece tour like no other!
